We’re Half-Way Through The 52 Week Money Challenge!
Back in January, I wrote about a money-saving concept that had been floating around the internet. It’s called the 52 week money challenge. The idea was rather simple: set aside a dollar equal the current week of the year. In other words, Week One, put $1 in a jar; Week two = $2; Week Three = $3; and so on, continuing through all 52 weeks in the year.
Today marks the 24th week of the challenge. Now that we’re over halfway through 2014, I gotta ask, how is everyone doing? How’s it coming along? By now, we should have been able to save at least $300 dollars.
For me, instead of dropping dollars into a jar as often depicted on the internet, I personally found it easier to just transfer the weekly dollar amount from my checking to savings account. I also missed a couple of weeks and had to double-down the following weeks. But I’m all caught up now, and right on track.
If you’re also on track, then congratulations! If not, don’t despair. Start the challenge today and you'll still see significant savings by the end of the year. Even if you aren’t able to contribute the exact dollar amount to your savings, just contribute whatever you can. It’s called a “challenge”, but in reality, anyone who plays wins because you'll always end up with more than you started with!
